Good times, great memories – Field Trips are extended classrooms for students!

National Public School, Singanayakanahalli, students of Grades III to VII visited the local fire station as a part of their community helper’s unit. The aim of the visit was to give the students a hands-on experience and better understanding of the role of FIRE-FIGHTERS in ensuring public safety.

Activities and Learning Experience

The students were warmly welcomed by the fire station chief Mr. Siddhe Gowda. He briefly introduced the fire station, its history, and the daily responsibilities of FIRE-FIGHTERS. The students were taken on a guided tour of the station, where they saw the living quarters, kitchen, and training facilities. They learned about the rigorous training that FIRE-FIGHTERS undergo to stay prepared for emergencies.

Fire Trucks and Equipment: The highlight of the visit was seeing the fire trucks up close.FIRE-FIGHTERS demonstrated how the equipment on the trucks is used, including hoses, ladders, and the jaws of life. Students were thrilled to explore the different parts of the fire truck.

The FIRE-FIGHTERS conducted a fire safety demonstration, showing the students how to stop, drop, and roll in case of a fire. They also discussed the importance of having a fire escape plan at home and regularly checking smoke detectors. An interactive question-and-answer session was held, where students asked numerous questions about firefighting, safety measures, and the experiences of the FIRE-FIGHTERS. They shared stories of bravery and teamwork, inspiring many students. Emergency preparedness was emphasized, with firefighters explaining how to create a fire escape plan for home and school. They provided tips on staying calm and safe during emergencies.

The field trip to the fire station was an enriching experience for the students of Grades III to VII. It provided them with valuable knowledge about fire safety, the dedication of firefighters, and the significance of being prepared for emergencies. The students left with a newfound respect for the firefighters and a better understanding of how to stay safe in case of a fire.
